About
Dr. John D. Smith has been engaged in Christian ministry for over 20 years, serving in the academy, the church, and parachurch organizations. He currently teaches courses in Bible, theology, and leadership at Lee University and serves as a regular speaker in church and conference settings.
John holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and he is an ordained bishop in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN). His ministry travels have taken him to Russia, Italy, Bulgaria, and Israel.
Alongside his work in ministry and academia, John has spent two decades in executive leadership in business. This integrated experience shapes his approach to leadership, faith, and formation in real-world contexts.
John’s work is centered on helping people develop a deeper understanding of Scripture while encouraging believers in their Christian faith and discipleship.
He has been married to his wife Maggie for 20 years. They have three children and together their family lives near Charlotte, NC.
